About KarVerifi
Onboarding-as-a-Service, made for Africa.
KYC in Nigeria is a stitched-together maze of BVN, NIN, phone, and CAC lookups across four registries and a dozen providers. We roll them into one API and one hosted flow so fintechs, lenders and marketplaces can onboard customers in seconds — with your end-user's consent, every time.
Our story
Built out of a payments company, for the fintechs it saw struggling.
KarVerifi was incubated inside Karrabo Financial Solutions, a CBN-licensed payments company that spent years watching its own partners lose weeks — sometimes quarters — plumbing together identity checks. Every fintech we worked with was writing the same integrations: NIBSS for BVN, QoreID for fallback, SmileID for liveness, NIMC for NIN, CAC for business KYB. The same code, the same edge cases, the same wallet balancing headache.
We spun out KarVerifi to unify that fragmented KYC ecosystem under one API and one hosted flow. One request checks a BVN. A second call registers a customer who doesn't have one. A third stitches phone, account and CAC into an ordered workflow — with pass/fail rules, manual review and webhook delivery — deployable via API, hosted link, or embed.
The result: African fintechs, lenders and marketplaces ship compliant onboarding in a week instead of a quarter, with audit trails, sandbox parity, and a prepaid wallet that debits only on successful verifications.
What we do differently
Three things nobody else does at once.
Nigerian-first
BVN, NIN, and CAC are first-class citizens — not addons bolted on top of a US or EU stack. We ship for the checks Nigerian operators actually run, in the order they actually run them.
Smart routing
Multiple providers behind one call. If NIBSS is slow, we route to QoreID. If Smile is down, we try NIMC. You write one request and we quietly keep the success rate up.
You choose the surface
Same verification, three shapes: a REST API for engineering, a hosted link with QR for ops, or an embeddable widget for your product. One wallet, one dashboard, one webhook stream.
The team
Operators, engineers, and a compliance lead.
A small team with deep experience across Nigerian banking, payments infrastructure, and regulator relationships.
Adaeze Okafor
CEO & Co-founder
Previously ran product at a Nigerian tier-1 bank. Left to fix the six-week KYC onboarding that made every fintech partnership take a quarter.
Tunde Balogun
CTO & Co-founder
Ex-payments infrastructure. Built the router that stitches NIBSS, QoreID, SmileID and NIMC into a single idempotent API.
Funmi Adeyemi
Head of Compliance
CBN and NDPC veteran. Owns our licensing posture, DPO responsibilities, and the audit trail that keeps regulators comfortable.
Ifeanyi Nwosu
Head of Engineering
Runs the platform: workflows engine, hosted flows, embed SDK, and the webhook pipeline that must never lose an event.
Backing
Backed by Karrabo Financial Solutions.
Karrabo is a CBN-licensed payments company. KarVerifi inherits that regulatory posture — and Karrabo's wallet infrastructure powers our per-verification billing.
